Privacy Policy

What We Collect

• Email address — provided via Sign in with Apple. Used for account identification only.
• Reading position and bookmarks — stored locally on your device.
• AI queries — the text you select and questions you ask are sent to AI providers to generate responses. We do not use your queries to train models.
• Crash and diagnostic data — if the app crashes or hits an error, an anonymous diagnostic report (device model, OS version, and the technical error) is sent to our crash-reporting provider so we can fix bugs. These reports carry no personal data, are not linked to your identity, and are never used for advertising or tracking.

What We Don't Do

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use advertising SDKs or behavioral/marketing analytics. The only diagnostic data we collect is the anonymous crash and error reports described above, used solely to detect and fix technical problems.

Third-Party Services

• Supabase — backend infrastructure for authentication and data storage.
• Anthropic — AI queries are sent to Anthropic for processing. Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle data.
• Google — used to generate illustrations and book recommendations from the text you choose. Google's privacy policy governs how they handle data.
• Sentry — receives anonymous crash and error diagnostics so we can detect and fix bugs. Configured without personal data (no IP address or identifying information).
• Apple — Sign in with Apple for authentication; App Store for subscriptions.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely on Supabase-managed infrastructure. Reading data and bookmarks are stored locally on your device.

Your Rights

You can delete your account and all associated data directly within the app at any time. Upon deletion, we remove your data from our servers within 30 days.

If you are a resident of California (CCPA), the European Union (GDPR), or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, you may have additional rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your information. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Children's Privacy

Vela is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
